Precedence Diagramming Method
(PDM) is one of the most popular and commonly used methods for arranging
activities of a project visually. In PDM, various project activities are placed
inside boxes, termed as nodes. Thereafter, boxes are connected with the help of
arrows. In PDM, the relationship and interdependencies of work packages are
indicated with the help of arrows. A simple network diagram using PDM is shown
in Figure.
It should be noted that the
relationships exhibited by the activities in a PDM can be of four types, as
shown in Figure.
